Our Advising Center is committed to ensure the academic success of all students. From our first meeting with students and families at Orientation to the day of Commencement, we take an active role in the academic progress of each student. Aside from scheduling issues, we listen to their ideas and their expectations. We discuss career goals and advise completion of minors that would best serve those interests. Our academic programs are demanding. We are available five days a week without appointment, to relieve some of the stress that students experience. Throughout their WVU experience, we closely monitor academic progress, make sure they are enrolled in courses required by their major and that they are taken in the prescribed sequence. We help choose appropriate substitutions when needed, and ensure that they earn the required credit hours and grades for graduation. We mediate academic issues, guide students through various application and submission processes, and refer them to other sources for answers and resolution. We strive to facilitate their development of independence and acknowledge even the smallest achievements. When students graduate from our programs, not only are they well prepared to embark on a career, but they leave with a strong sense of worth and pride in all they have accomplished.
